Brooklin is the fast growing north end of Whitby along Baldwin Street, a village core surrounded by new subdivisions and a Highway 407 interchange that turned it into commuter country.
The village core around Baldwin and Winchester has older homes on generous lots with room for a tub and a sauna, and a few of them are still on well water. Everything around it is new: crescents of two storey homes with forty to fifty foot frontages, fresh sod, wood fences with three foot gates and rear yards that back onto another rear yard. Expect a fence panel to come out on delivery day and expect the ground to settle for a season before the final landscaping. The panel is in the basement, and 200 amp service is standard, so a 60 amp tub is rarely a problem.
Brooklin buyers commute on the 407 to Markham and Vaughan or take the 412 down to the 401 and the Whitby GO, and they are usually a family with young kids and a new house that still needs a deck.
